This project aims to strengthen the capacity of Montenegrin authorities to manage its borders in a manner consistent with EU standards, while building practice and expertise on handling and treating irregular migrants in Montenegro. It will do so through a number of coordinated actions aiming to further build the capacities of the National Central Bureau (INTERPOL) and the Border Police in detecting document fraud and irregular migration incidents, through training of staff and provision of new case management software.
The project also aims to strengthen the capacity of Border Police officers through training in regard to the treatment of irregular migrants hosted in the newly-built Reception Centre for Irregular Migrants (RC) in Montenegro.
