The project proposes to collaborate with the Ministry of Local Government, Rural & Urban Development (MoLGRUD) to contribute to development in Zimbabwe through improved local planning for and management of migration dynamics. This will be achieved by building capacity of departments charged with development planning to facilitate participatory development planning processes in migration-affected areas. Inputs and activities will include training workshops, information gathering on migration dynamics at local level, production of development plans in key districts and design and dissemination of planning tools. The results include enhanced capacity in the MoLGRUD to facilitate community-based planning (CBP) and mainstream migration management in local planning processes; assessment of migration trends and impact in selected districts; and development plans that respond to local migration dynamics.
