Strengthening the Government Response to Human Trafficking in Jordan

According to recent studies, Jordan is simultaneously a country of destination and transit for human trafficking. Over the past year, the Jordanian authorities have demonstrated unprecedented commitment to eradicating the phenomenon; nonetheless, human trafficking is still a significant challenge in Jordan and additional support has been requested to strengthen the government and civil society response. Under this project, IOM will therefore work in partnership with the Ministry of Labour (MoL) to: (i) provide reliable, up-to-date data on human trafficking through a comprehensive assessment; (ii) enhance provision of tailored and comprehensive direct assistance, through establishing formal referral mechanisms; and (iii) enhance the level of protection of trafficking victims in Jordan, through capacity building for the government in the field of shelter management.
