The project’s main objective is to contribute to the protection of the human rights of migrants in South America through strengthened migration management systems, particularly information–sharing and increased sensitization of migration officials. It also contributes in the achievement of the political decisions made by the governments that participate in the South American Conference on Migration (SACM), as well as to make progress in the implementation of its Plan of Action named “South American Plan for the Human Development of Migrations.” Two specific objectives are envisioned as part of this project: a) To strengthen the institutional capacities of the entities in charge of migration management in the region, and b) to develop a communication technological platform that improves coordination and cooperation among South American countries aimed at consolidating the regional integration policies, in particular those concerning the free movement of people. The project will be coordinated by the SACM Technical Secretariat, which will enable good communication with counterparts of the participating countries.
