The Project is designed to strengthen the Government of Mexico’s capacity, specifically the National Migration Institute, to manage the Human Repatriation Program in order to offer a dignified reception to Mexicans repatriated from the United states, as well as offer possibilities of reinsertion in previously selected states which have high immigration rates. The project will seek to improve the coordination between the different actors involved in the reception of the migrants: federal, state and municipal entities as well as civil society organizations. The gathering of information will be improved through the review of the existing questionnaires applied to migrants and the creation of a database which will allow access to statistics about the return of migrants as well as their preferences in terms of reinsertion possibilities. The second component of the project will allow the creation of a mapping tool identifying potential reinsertion services that returning migrants can apply for. This will facilitate the creation of the Executing Unit for Reinsertion of the Human Repatriation Program in regional offices of the National Migration Institute in each of the selected States.
