Human trafficking within and through Yemen is expanding with poverty and insecurity as driving factors. Through the support and partnership of IOM, the government of Yemen has acknowledged human trafficking as an important issue requiring a comprehensive approach drawing together the existing frameworks and relevant stakeholders.
The proposed project aims to strengthen prevention of human trafficking in Yemen and ensure the appropriate protection and assistance is provided to victims of trafficking through support for the development of a national strategy to combat human trafficking. Furthermore, IOM Yemen will partner with the Ministry of Human rights and the newly established National Technical Committee (NTC) to Combat Human Trafficking in Yemen in order to ensure that strengthened mechanisms for data collection, coordination and capacity building are in place.
