Technical Assistance in the Development of a National Migration Policy in Uganda: Phase I

This project aims to strengthen the capacity of the Government of Uganda to better manage migration and contribute to the development of a comprehensive national migration policy.

The project will include four components:

• Support in the establishment of an Inter-Ministerial Committee/Task Force on Migration Policy;
• Undertake a technical review of the current legislation, regulations and policy governing migration issues in Uganda;
• Train officials on selected modules of the Essentials of Migration Management (EMM), a Guide for Policy Makers and Practitioners. The IOM’s African Capacity Building Centre (ACBC) with expertise in development, coordination and delivery of customised, needs-targeted migration training will assist in executing the training; and,
• Realize a ‘first draft’ of the Uganda National Migration Policy
