Technical Cooperation in Migration for the Eastern Republic of Uruguay

The objective of this project has been to contribute to supporting the Government of Uruguay’s effort to more effectively address various migration issues. The priority areas of attention included the following: establishing estimates of migration flow to aid in the preparation of development plans; designing of a policy of selective immigration; updating of the law on migration; assessing and improving the situation of seasonal migrant workers; assessing and planning interventions to improve the maternal health for groups of migrant women; and designing and piloting a Uruguayan programme of entitlement for nationals living outside the country.
