This project seeks to strengthen and position Ecuador’s comprehensive migratory policy at the national and international level. This will be achieved by providing ongoing technical assistance to Ecuador’s National Secretariat for Migrants (SENAMI, for its acronym in Spanish). In order to disseminate and promote the Government of Ecuador’s (GoE) comprehensive migration policy, the project will develop a joint coordination and communication strategy for SENAMI and its representations abroad, called Ecuadorian Houses of Migrants. In addition, the project will:
• Provide technical support to the upcoming report to be drafted by the Ecuadorian State on the measures that the country has taken to implement the provisions of the ‘International Convention on the Protection of the Rights of All Migrant Workers and Members of Their Families’.
•Carry out consultation, dissemination and promotion workshops to collect and disseminate civil society’s observations on Ecuador’s Comprehensive Human Mobility Bill.
•Provide technical and logistical support to prepare for the 9th South American Conference on Migration.
•Conduct a research study on the socio-economic conditions of Ecuadorian migrants abroad and immigrants in Ecuador to gain further knowledge on status of migrants and gain primary information on Ecuador’s human mobility trends.
